Mission Statement

To provide culturally sensitive and age-appropriate prevention and intervention activities that can improve individual and community resiliency and reduce DWI, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse, thus strengthening all aspects of personal, family and community development, and provide Sandoval County citizens, of all ages, knowledge, skills and abilities to help them develop as capable and responsible alcohol and drug-free members of the community.

The Prevention component implements the following strategies identified by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention:

  • Education
  • Information Dissemination
  • Alternatives
  • Community Based Process
  • Environment Strategies

Sandoval County DWI & Prevention Program offers the community Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drug Abuse prevention information which can be attained at various events throughout the county such as a local health fair, the State Fair, or at our Designed Driver Booth at the Santa Ana Star Center. We also provide Alternative Activities such as pre-prom presentations, pow wows and other community events. The Staff at Sandoval County DWI & Prevention participates in community events such as Walk Like MADD, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and works with Independence High School students to address underage drinking in Sandoval County.
